David Wright News
New Music:

2009 was a prolific period for David, as the new releases show. Sines of Life Volumes 1 and 2 are David's 20th and 21st solo releases and have already been very favourably received by fans. Then there is the stunning album "Shifting Sands" with Ian Boddy, where the two UK synth maestros have combined to present a truly memorable electronic music studio album. They were joined in concert during 2009 by German guitar legend Klaus Hoffmann-Hoock, who also played Memotron, and the result is the awesome "Trinity", which presents 2 hours of extraordinary live electronic music. And finally, there is "Before Time" which features the original music composed by David Wright & Robert Fox for the Code Indigo album TimeCode.
"Dreams and Distant Moonlight" received very positive media reviews and fan comments while healthy sales have made it one of David's most commercially successful albums too date.
The album won the best album of 2008 at the Schallwelle Music awards. Pics from the award ceremony in Dinslaken can be found on David's concert pics page and on the Schallwelle Music site.

Concerts
The Bungay concert was a successful evening, although not as well attended as the previous year due probably to it being on a Sunday. But 77 fans turned out to see Geigertek open the evening with a live version of his debut album "The Garden", released in August by AD Music. Although the title might sound 'new age' much of the music certainly isn't, sometime veering towards Kraftwerk territory. Overall, very impressive, melodic sequenced style music with structure and some considerable style. Apparently this was Geigertek's first concert for 20 years, but no-one would have guessed. The music was accompanied by nice graphics courtesy of AD Music's Dave Massey, and a lot of smoke and lights!
After the interval, David Wright opened with a terrific live version of Cassini after which he was joined on stage by Klaus Cosmic Hoffmann, of Mind over Matter fame. They continued with two tracks from David's new album (sadly not available on the night) "Just an Illusion" and "State of Bliss". The combination of Klaus's guitar and David's keyboards worked well, particularly when Klaus played his Memotron as well - a great combination. A live version of "Walking with Ghosts" was also performed and this was just stunning - quite beautiful!
Robert Fox joined proceedings to perform a superb improvised piece - very grand and symphonic with some wonderful interplay between the three musicians. Robert left the stage and David and Klaus continued with a new version of Beyond Paradise, Klaus playing some great sitar. The evening ended with more from the new album, Sun Dust/The Canyon. Robert and Geigertek returned to the stage for a very different encore version of Code Indigo's Code 14, everyone clearly having a lot of fun.
All in all, a great night, fantastic graphics by Dave Massey although sometimes the lighting was a touch overpowering. I understand there were many technical problems beforehand, but for the audience everything was great and the news that the concert graphics plus some live footage will be available on DVD in 2009 is also great news.
Concert Feedback - Bungay 2008
Thought i'd say a few words about how much myself and my friends enjoyed davids concert on sunday night. We spent a great few days in and around Suffolk and Norfolk, it really is a beautiful part of the country, then to see David and Robert Fox play live and get to meet them along with yourself just added to a great few days. (Gary C - N. Ireland)
Great night, great venue, great music. Seen David Wright live before and this was as good as I've seen him perform. Not heard Geigertek before but he was excellent as well. Everyone seemed very relaxed and having a good time. Klaus Cosmic Hoffmann was a revelation. Not heard him before tonight and his guitar was fantastic. It complemented David's music perfectly. Please say they will do an album together? (L. Helyer, Sussex)
Wanted to congratulate everyone involved with a great concert on Sunday. Geigertek was great, liked his set it was a good opening to the evening and I bought his album. Loved Davids live version of Cassini, one of my favorite DW tracks. Klaus Hoffmann's guitar when he came on was terrific and the overall sound was fantastic. Loved the graphics and can't wait for the DVD. Thought the improvised music when Robert Fox came on was inspired. Seen them do that before but this was the best. (TT - West Sussex)
I wasn't sure what to expect because this was my first time at a concert of this type. But I was impressed with a thoroughly professional and entertaining evening of music presented by two very accomplished musicians. The graphics and lighting added to the overall experience and made for a very enjoyable night out. (R. Hall, Bungay).
Previous Concerts
David's USA concert at The Gatherings on September 29th was a great night of music. An appreciative audience that included fans who flew from California, were treated to new music plus some old favorites. David opened with a new 33 minute composition "Desire", which as the title suggests, was a slow drifting piece, with pads and effects building slowly until down-tempo sequences emerged at the 15 minute mark pushing the music to its climax.. The first half of the show concluded with an inspired rendition of "Walking with Ghosts" - delicate piano building and then merging into glorious sequences before fading into its piano and strings conclusion. The second half opened with a short improvised piece "Sun Dust" - a simple drum and sequence over which David played piano and synth Sax lead to great effect. The remainder of the second half was taken up with the lengthy "Evolution" which started gently and in true Berlin school style built slowly and inexorably to a pounding conclusion as 4 to the floor drum and sequences and a storming theme and solo carried the stunning track to it end. The audience wanted more and David obliged with a great version of Cassini for an encore.
Later that night David also played 2 half hour sets for the Stars End Radio program. As well as favorites "The Sound of Waves" and "Beyond Paradise" David also featured two fifteen minute improvised tracks "Shifting Sands" and "Depth from Motion". Snippits from the latter tracks can be found on the CD and MP3 page.
Extracts from the live performances at the Gatherings concert can be found on the CD/MP3 page.

The concert at Bochum Planetarium on April 29th was a huge success. The venue was almost full, with 200 people attending.
El-ka opened with a great set of improvised sequencer music in the style of early Tangerine Dream.
David's set comprised 3 long tracks. These were;
1. Odyssey (new)
2. Just a Dream (new)
3. Sea of Dreams (from Deeper but including additional sections).
Many pictures were taken (courtesy of Dave Massey) and they will appear very soon on the pics page.
Unfortunately, David didn't play a solo encore because the show over-ran until past 11:00, but David did invite El-ka back for an improvised collaboration, which the audience seemed to really enjoy so the evening ended on a real high.
